Are you suffering from Volcano Syndrome?
Volcano Syndrome is the term I use to describe a particularly prevalent condition in modern dating.
Let me describe it and see if this sounds familiar…
Volcano Syndrome is characterised by short BURSTS of eruptive activity where the sufferer hits up every dating app under the sun intensely for about two weeks, then gets frustrated and gives up.
What follows is often months and months of dormancy. Zero activity.
The sufferer has shut down their apps, cancelled their optimistically scheduled Saturday morning waxing appointment and for now put the whole ‘happily ever after’ thing on the back burner.
If this sounds like you, you’re not alone and it’s not too late to reverse the effects of this horrible syndrome.
There are a lot of different causes for this syndrome that really just need to be addressed.
Some of the things I focus on in coaching help to tackle this and involve:
1. Getting super clear on a motivating vision for your future
2. Setting realistic goals that help you to build momentum
3. Learning new skills that help you to date more confidently
4. Tapping into new sources of motivation and support
5. Gaining empowering new insight into modern dating and the opposite sex.
Consistency is a lot better than persistence. It’s much better to consistently do all those things throughout the year that create opportunities for love than it is to be intensely preoccupied with it for a short time to the point of burn-out.
If you can relate to Volcano Syndrome or any other dating challenges, I’d love to hear from you.
